Where Adventure meets Voluntourism

Adventure Service Tourism:

This nomenclature was coined in the development of my Master’s Degree Capstone Research entitled: “Sustainable Tourism Realities: A Case for Adventure Service Tourism”

The two case studies explored are: 1) Coffee Tourism in the tropical highlands of northern Peru and 2) Adventure Conservation in the Peruvian jungle Amazon river headwaters.

In exploring sustainable tourism in Peru, the question was posed: “What are the issues for developing an adventure service tourism product in Peru that is economically viable, environmentally conscientious, culturally respectful and politically acceptable?”
